Vertigo is basically a symptom that is commonly seen in people that suffer from headache. In this, the person is frightened and has a sensation that he or his surrounding environment is spinning or moving. This feeling either is not noticeable or can be so severe that you will find difficult to balance your body and perform your daily tasks.

Patients don’t know which specialist to visit for this syndrome, whether to visit neurologists, ENT specialists, physicians or orthopaedics. They believe that vertigo is non-curable and they need to be habitual to it. It is a challenging job to change the patient’s mind-set and make them aware that it is curable.

Vertigo attacks can occur at any time and last for a few seconds or longer than that. In case of a severe vertigo, your symptoms might be constant and may continue for several days, making it difficult to live a normal life.

Types of Vertigo

Based on the cause, there are different types of Vertigo:

  1. Peripheral Vertigo: Peripheral vertigo typically occurs due to problem with the inner ear. The inner ear’s labyrinth consists of tiny organs that allow sending messages to the brain in response to gravity. With these messages, the brain understands when there is movement from the vertical position. This is the reason that people can keep their balance when they stand up.
  2. Central Vertigo: Central vertigo occurs due to problems with the central nervous system. It basically involves a disturbance in one of the below areas:

These parts of the brain help with the interaction between a person’s perception of vision and balance.
